report grouped by work package and resource group

In order to interface to an external accounting system, I'd like to
get a report that summarizes the timephased hours for a resource group
within a task group:
WorkPkg1 200 300 ...
ResourceGrp1 50 150
ResourceGrp2 150 150
WorkPkg2
...

The GroupBy capability in the Resource Usage can't seem to group on
task information, and the Task Usage grouping capability can't seem to
group on resource information. I can ignore "extra" lines (e.g.,
individual task or resource information).

Is there any way to get a nested grouping across both task and
resource information?

Hello Paul,

Try creating a group in the Task Usage view.
Group by:
Field: Name
Field Type: Task
Order: As desired

Then by:
Field Name: Resource Group
Field Type: Assignment
Order: As desired

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

To be able to set by Assignment for the Resource Group, you'll need
to enable (check) the option "Group assignments, not tasks"

That did it! The checkbox was the key item I was missing. In my case
I added a text field containing the work package identifier, which was
used as the first grouping. Thank you so much.
