Hi,

I have milestones with resource that need to report on it thru the
server. (i.e. receive X to warehouse)
do you have any ideas how the user can report a mileston as done? (EPM
2007)

Thanks,
Hanni

Hi,

I assume your are also using table view (hours per day) in My Tasks? Field
"Progress" is now splitted into 7 days.

What I did temporarily was adding the same webpart twice. The second one I
renamed to "use for milestones" and turned it back to original behaviour
(without by day). People don't like me for that, but it was the only solution
I could find.

If there are any better ideas out there? They are really appreciated!

Thanks Christophe but this is not what I asked.
I have milestones in the work plan. I have a resource assigned to the
milestone. I need this resource to report, thru web access, that task
is done (=100% complete)
Usually, when is is a greater than 0 days tasks - the resource fill in
the date culmn - the # of hours he did and then the remaining. when
remaining is 0 hours - that means that task is completed.
Now, in milestone he cannot add value to milstone date and the
remaining is 0 hours from the beggining. so, how can he/she report
that this milestone is now completed?

Hope this explanation is better. Thanks for trying to help

Here's a little trick for you:

1. Open the project in question.
2. Select the Milestone in question and then click Window - Split.
3. Select the resource and assign him/her to .5h of Work.
4. Click the OK button to make the resource assignment.
5. Click Window - Remove Split.
6. Double-click the name of the Milestone task to open the Task Information
dilaog.
7. Select the Advanced tab.
8. In the lower left corner, select the "Mark task as milestone" option.
9. Click the OK button.
10. Save your project and then click File - Publish.

The trick is to assign a small amount of work to the task, which is in this
case a half-hour of Work, which gives the team member some hours to report
back in PWA. Hope this helps.

Hello hanni,

Milestone is zero task duration as per MS Project Terminology. It
seems to be you want to treat the regular task (greater than zero
duration) as milestone. Yes, you can do that in MS Project Plan.

Please do the following stpes:

Open Project Plan in MS Project Professional 2007
Select the task you want to become a milestone
Project menu -> Task information
Click on Advanced tab -> Select the “Mark task as milestone”
Click OK

Hi Dale,

Once we mark the task explicitly as milestone on advance tab, I guess
we can assign as many hours that the task required to complete.

Please correct me, if I am wrong.

Hi Dale,

Thanks Dale. When you said “The trick is to assign a small amount of
work to the task". I thought, we both should give a message to hanni
to assign the work hours normally.

Anyways, thanks again and glad to see your clarification. You are the
best :)

Thanks All.
I do not want resource to report hours. I want him/her to report 100%.
it is not the same. this is why I dont like the idea of adding hours.
If i will add hours is it going to add time to duration?

Thanks,
Hanni

Add %Work Complete column to My Assignmnets view. To progress add 100%
against milestone assignments. This will be submitted to PM for
approval and on acceptance will update plan.

Mike
