I have a question regarding Visio reports. When I ran report in Visio, I get
a field name Quantity. What is it counting? I can't find where to hide this
field or completely take it off. Can someone please explain this. Thank you
very much.

You can modify one of the standrad reports, from the report list select the report you
want to use then click modify, then on the 3rd page of the report definition there is a
subtotals button, clicking that will allow you to select which properties have a COUNT
value in the report.

Thank you for your response. However, I have used the subtotals. That is
all fine. But my final reports Count, and Inventory Reports have a field
"Quantity" that has random numbers. I want to know what this Quantity field
is counting. I did not add this field. I need to know what this is
counting. Is it counting connectors? If so how do I eliminate this field
from coming up on my reports???

I think we need to know what type of diagram and which report you are using.
You can paste the contents of the report file here (they are just plain text and can be
opened in Notepad).

Paul, below are the two report's fields Count Report and Inventory. As you
can see the last column is Quantity. These two reports are standard reports
in Visio 2003.
What is Quantity? What does it count? It does not count positions or
individuals or shapes because the numbers do not add up. Thank you.

Count Positions
Title Name Quantity
30
Count

Inventory
Name Title Phone # Location City State Quantity

I am sorry I forgot to mention the diagram I am using. I am using an
Organizatinal Chart. Can you tell me what Quantity means? Or how I can
eliminate it from my reports? Thank you. One more question. Are there many
changes from Visio 2003 to 2007. I cannot find any 2003 books locally
everything is for 2007 and not sure if it is worth spending the money on a
2003. Our company will be swithching over to 2007 sometime next year.

Org charts have 3 reports available by default, the first one, as you mention, the Count
Positions report outputs 3 columns, Master Name, Job Title and Quantity. Seems obvious to
me, what is wrong with that? 5 Executives, 3 Managers, 1 Dogsbody.
Inventory report, as above but without the Job Title column.
Organisation report shows Department, Name, Title, Telephone and Number of direct reports
Quantity in all these is the number of shapes representing each type of position, so if
you have 3 Executive shapes then it will show Quatity of 3.

Not sure if you've solved this but I had similar problem couldn't figure out
where it came from. I think it is as follows ;
In the report definition dialog, Click on Modify and this opens the Report
Def Wizard. On the 3rd page , click on Subtotals, then click on options. If
you have 'Exclude Duplicate rows in Group' ticked , I think the Report will
add the 'Quantity' column and count up duplicate rows. So I guess just untick
that box to get rid of it.
