REQ: looking for help/pointers on customising tool/control tips for Flexgrid please?

My Access 2003 application uses Flexgrid to display and maintain staff leave days and half days. I use standard mouse-over tips to show help and underlying data for the leave. I have seen a tooltip class for VB & Access that allows colour control of the tooltips and also displays these in ballon boxes rather than the standard Microsoft rectangles. Produced a few years ago by Stephen Lebans and downloadable from his web site. However this version doesn't work with the Flexgrid control.

Has anyone seen or developed something similar that may work with Flexgrid? If anyone has any ideas or can give me pointers that would be great. I can develop something based on a start but at the moment my brain seems to have frozen on this topic.

The flexgrid, not being an Access control, may have more code in a VB6
