Request/Demand column in Assign Resources Window

Can someone explain the column in which user can select
request or demand for a particular resource in the assign
resources windows?

Matthew:

This R/D setting affects the way the Resource Substitution Wizard treats an
assignment. If the resource is set to demand, it will not change the
assigned resource, where as if it's set to request, it may change the
resource assignment.
