Hi Ron,
There isn't a mechanism setup for determining if
the product has been previously activated other then
to activate it using the telephone or online activation
methods once the software is installed.
Retail copies of MS Office XP can be transferred to
another computer or another license holder. OEM copies
are tied to the first machine they're activated on as
the PC supplier is responsible for support of the
MS Office software on that machine.

Greetings
I have been unsuccessful in finding information on the MS web site about
registering a used copy of Office XP Standard Upgrade. I have been
told that the software has not been registered nor activated and I
wondered if there is a way I could verify that. I tried calling the
activation number and there is no mechanism to talk with a person so
that didn't work. Thanks in advance.
