Reset an application's default window size?

How do I reset a application's (i.e. Word, Excel, Internet Exploerer, etc...)
default size when launching from either the shortcuts or desktop? Many of my
apps' windows have been resized over time, and I would like to reset them to
open in Maximum/Full size. I know I can resize them to Max size after they
launch, but would prefer that to be the default again.

Here is what happens:

For example, I click the quick launch icon or desktop shortcut and the app
opens let's say in a shrunken window. I click the Maximize button on the
title bar and then proceed to do what I need to do. I then close the
application. But when I go to open the same app later, it reopens in that
same shrunken size again. The app did not "remember" it was maximized when I
closed it.

What you see is due to having the Windowed size small and short cut set
to Windowed. Either stretch the window to the size you want and then
close it, OR switch the Shortcut properties to Maximize instead of
windowed. (r-click the icon and then properties)

If you right click on the shortcut (say desktop) and select properties.

In the shortcut tab there an option under RUN to Maximized (the other
two being Minimized and Normal).
