Reset Footer Placeholder in PowerPoint 2007

Hello,

Is there a way to reset the footer placeholders in PowerPoint 2007. I
inherited this presentation and the placeholders for the footer are not
inserting the page numbers when I insert the Header/Footer. What I get on
every slide is a # symbol instead of the actual page numbers.
