Reset the ruler

J

John

Using Publisher 2002 and XP.

How may I change the ruler settings to inches
and ensure that this change becomes the default?
At present whenever I've reset to inches and carry
out a task in another prog or switch off, when I return
to publisher, the rulers are back in metric.

Help.

Look in the Regional and Language Options in the Control Panel to be certain you have
the US selected.

Mary.
Thank you.

As an afterthought, why is it that the US of A uses inches on rulers
yet the UK prefers metric? Or is that an arbitrary Windows choice?

John.

The UK, with the rest of Europe and most of the rest of the world, have
officially switched over to the metric system (hence the move to kilograms
in the supermarkets - doesn't explain the miles on the road signs, though).
The US of A are still stuck in the old imperial system.

You stick with what YOU want. I know of no one of my generation
in this country (England) who wanted or asked for metrication, indeed
many vigorously fought against it - some still do - without success,
but let's not get into politics!

Thank you all for your comments.

Hey hey wait a sec...
I never said that anyone used it, I said that they had "officially" switched
over - i.e. Britain is listed as an officially metricated country, so when
choosing Britain as your locale, the defaults set to metric.
Hope that clears things up :)
