Well, Arnold. No amount of deleting it would get rid of that value when
reinserted. I tried some of your other steps ... deleting the file in the
_private folder, but that also didn't help. Here's what did work. I
deleted the row it was in - and published it to make sure there was no
counter. I then reinserted the row and reinserted the counter. That did
it. What a painful exercise.
Thanks for your suggestions Arnold.

Hi Dianah,
What is the OS version on the server side? What is the FPSE version then,
FPSE 2000 or 2002?
How do you publish the web page to the server, via http or ftp?
I would suggest you try the following steps:
1. Recalculate the web in IIS,
a. Right-click the virtual server in IIS.
b. Click All Tasks.
c. Click Recalculate Web.
2. Recalculate the Hyperlinks in FrontPage
a. Open the web site in FrontPage.
b. Click the Tools menu, and then click Recalculate Hyperlinks.
c. Click "Yes" when you are prompted to continue.
3. Re-insert the hit counter.
a. Delete all the files under _private folder.
b. delete hit counter.
c. Re-insert the hit counter.

Hope it helps.
