resize object dosen't take???

Trying to resize object. I resize through format control.
enter the new height and width. Click ok and nothing
happens. Go back and check format control of check box and
size is not changed. Entered size change does not take.
Anything I can do to get change to take?????

Confused ~ Any help is greatly appreciated.
