Resizing an PPT slide object in a table generated by publish into

Windows version: XP

Description of problem:

I typically create handouts in Word of my PPT presentations by
publishing from PPT to Word using the "Create Handouts in MS Word" procedure
found in "Publish" under the Office button.
Then I select "Blank Lines Next to Slides" and then OK.
This procedure generates a three column table in Word, with the PPT
slides being in the second column.

I don't like this format, so I have written a macro in Word 2003 to
delete the first and third columns automatically and a second macro to
resize the PPT slides in the second column so that each slide's width is
2.9 inches high while maintaining the aspect ratio.

This is my question: To write this second macro, I need to numerically
specify the size that I want the slide to be resized as. In the past
with Word 2003, I could left click on a slide and select "Object"
in the drop down box under "Format" in the menu bar. But with Word 2007, I
cannot find any way of numerically specifying the size of a PPT slide when
it is in the table formed from the publish procedure.

At this point, the only way that I can resize a slide is to click on it
and manually drag it to the desired size. However, manually resizing will
not work in a macro.
I need a drop down box to specify the numerical size.

An alternative solution may be to remove the slides from the table and
paste them as a column into another Word document
(If this is done, the numerical resize option becomes
active and a number for the height can be specified. ).
However, I can't figure out how to get them out of the table format and keep
each slide as a separate object.

Thanks for any help.
