Resizing Images in Existing Presentation

T

As a novice user, my initial presentations have incorporated excessively
large (huge would be more accureate) jpeg images that far exceed the
necessarily resolution. As a result, my presentations are massive
compared to the amount of space that they should/could occupy on my
hard drive if I had optimized image size before inserting in individual
slides.

Is there any way, within Powerpoint, to "rescale" an image that has
already been inserted....without actually changing its existing
location and visual size on the slide.

Alternately, do I need to go through the laborious task of deleting
each image, resizing original image from my archives using photoshop
and then repeat process of inserting and aligning the rescaled image
back in the slide.

I'm hoping that there's an expedient way to do this???

Thanks
Tim

Which PowerPoint version are you using? If you are using PPT 2002 or later,
you can right click on one of the images and select the option to format the
picture. Go to the Picture tab. Close to the bottom of the window you will
see a "Compress" button. Click it. Set Apply to = All pictures, Change
resolution = Web/screen, and check both options boxes. Click OK twice to
return to your presentation. Now, go to Tools --> Options and the Save tab
and turn off fast saves. Finally, save the presentation under a new name.
Once you have verified that the new version of the presentation still meets
your needs, you can delete the old version.

I also suggest you read these pages from the PPT FAQ:

Don't do this with PowerPoint. Seriously.
