Resizing of clip art in clip art placeholders

In PowerPint 97/2000 when I inserted clip art into a text and clip art
slide layout, the clipart was automatically resized to the clip art
placeholder. I cannot get the same result using the same slide layout
in PowerPoint XP. Can anyone enlighten me on this?
