Resizing web images/pictures so they are not blurred for printing.

When I copy and paste an image/photo from Google or Yahoo Images into Word
2003, how do I re-size it (make it larger usually) without the picture
becoming distorted and blurred so I can print onto an A4 sheet?

That depends on the resolution of the original file. There may be nothing
that can be done.

When you Google search for images do you see a little description below each
image? Something like these...
Siberian Tiger
400 x 404 - 62k - jpg

Royal Bengal Tiger
1600 x 1200 - 352k - jpg

These tell you roughly how much detail is in the image. The bigger the
numbers then the better the image resolution.

A $100 (US) digital camera will give you shots that look OK blown up on A4
paper. These cameras have a resolution of between 5 and 6 million pixels. The
400x404 Siberian Tiger picture has a resolution of just 160,000 pixels. In
other words it has less that 3% of the detail needed to make an OK picture on
A4 paper.

The second image - Royal Bengal Tiger 1600 x 1200 - has more pixels. 1600
multiplied by 1200 give 1.9 million pixels. This is much better resolution
and will look a lot sharper when zoomed to A4 size.

What I'm saying is that if the original image has rubbish resolution then
it's not going to look any good blown up.

I hope this helps?

Regards

Chris
