resolution settings and graphics

I designed a website using some images for links.
When the site is viewed at 800x600 or 1024x768 the images
look fine. When the site is viewed at 1400x1050 the
images(the links and a logo with text) are "blurry" or the
edges of the text seem to pixelate.
Is there any way of designing the site for all these
resolutions easily??
Thanks!!

Who actually views anything at 1400x1050? - my video card isn't even capable of
that.....

I tried a different higher res (1280 x 960) and you're right about the
blurriness - my screen was fuzzy/blurry as well.

At a gusess I perhaps think it's because the resolution is so high it can't
really cope with it (even if it says it can) or do you need to perhaps bring the
colour depth back to 256 colours instead of 32 bit?

Highest res my card will allow is 1600x 900 or 1280x1024. do you need to change
the refresh-rate as well?

You can't see anything at that size anyway - I'd say 1024 x 768 is probably the
extreme for most people anyway
bearing in mind people would mostly use 800x600 or 1024x768 so design for those
resolutions.

Sorry I can't offer any other suggestions.

Try design your images with your video card set to 16 bit color instead of 32 bit.

imho don't even worry about 1400x1050. Anyone using that resolution would
need a magnifying glass to read the text.
At least I would.
50% of surfers use 800 by 600. 49% of the rest use 1024 by 768

I think that is a new resolution setting for the wide screen laptops.

Thomas, I don't know about you but I wouldn't be able to read the stuff on
the page unless I had my nose on the screen.

I'll have to check into that.

The best investiment I made last year was a pair of computer distance
reading glasses (20" focal distance)...what a difference!

It is - I have that res on my new Dell laptop. 15" screen and works quite
well. At a push I could work on it all day.

I currently work at 1280 x 1024 and some folks thinks that is hard on the eyes.

Do you think it is necessary to design a website with a
resolution setting of 1400x1050 in mind?

T

Thomas A. Rowe

I design at a fixed pixel width of 750, centered.

So, if I understand this correctly.....table width is 750
pixels (instead of percentages). Is there anything I can do
to a text image so that it is as "sharp" around the edges
as possible?
Thanks...
