Resource assignment problem

We have been using MSP-2003 EPM solution for almost two years.

Recently, I added an Enterprise resource (Res-1) to a project (Project-B).
Before doing any assignment, I noticed that the Resource Usage view was
showing Res-1 as fully loaded on another project (Project-A) for the required
months. I opened Project-A to take the resource out of that project. But
Project-A did not show any assignment for that resource for those months. In
fact, as soon as I opened Project-A, the Resource Usage view started showing
zero loading for Res-1. So I closed Project-A, and the Resource Usage view in
Project-B again started showing full loading for that resource in Project-A.

My guess is that somehow, the assignment in Project-A has been removed, but
the resource assignment database has not been updated. When Project-A is
opened, it shows that it does not have any assignment for Res-1. But when
Project-B is opened, it looks at assignment data (instead of Project-A data)
and shows the incorrect loading. How do I get rid of this assigned work which
doesn't exist in the project?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Well, I have noticed it for one resource only.

I have tried to re-create the problem on a test server but have not
succeeded. Any ideas anyone?

Did you try to open Project-A ONLY - without Project-B open? I've
noticed that when I open a 2nd project, it somehow displays the
resource sheet from the 1st project... which means that Project-A
might really have been showing Project-B's resource sheet, since B was
open first... Let me know if you see the resource having assignments
if you first and only open Project-A.
