Limitations to resource assignments?

Can one assign as many resources as wanted to a given task?
If so, are there any limitations regarding the maximum number of characters?

If you're referring to the limitation of what you can see in the Resource
field in the Gantt Chart view, then the answer is that you can see up to 256
characters in this display. However, this does not limit the number of
resources assignments you can have on a task.

Please confirm that it is ok to assign 60 resources to one task. This would
be useful for our admin plans (we use regular project plans for our admin
plans). We were working under early guidance that there is some kind of safe
maximum of ten resources to a task.

Thanks!

We have created our resource pool with Christian name, Surname and Maximum
Percentage Available.
With the 256 character limitation in the Resource field, this only allows us
to have a maximum of 14 resources.
For safety sake we have told all our PM's to allocate a maximum of 10
resources as we dont know what combination of resources they will utilize.

Any further comments?

Edward:

The Resource Name field that you see in the Gantt Chart is a display field
that shows resource names for that task. Its 256 character limitation does
not limit the number of resources you can assign. You should not use this
field when assigning resource, instead you should use the task entry view,
the assign resources dialog, and the build team dialog all of which are
specifically designed to give you control over resource assignments. Some
basic project training for your team should pay off in many hours of avoided
frustration.
