Resource Assignments causing a delay

R

Rm

Hi,
I have a task with 3 resources attached. (Scheduled 01-Dec to 31-Dec)
One of the resources R1 started early on 15-Jun.
Another resource R2 started on 02-Dec.

Because of this a delay was added to the second resource, and the duration
was increased. Is it possible to prevent this? (Task Type is Fixed Duration
/ Effort Driven)

Also it is not possible to enter an actual finish date for R2?

Thanks,

Hi Rm,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

Well, you haven't given us all the information. But generally, if you want the Duration to remain fixed, you will need to increase the number of units of the resource (maybe by working overtime to make up for starting late) or reducing the amount of Work you have assigned. What is the 3rd resourced doing? If one resource has already finished, then I would break the task into two to account for the early start, and re-assign the remainder to the other 2 resources.

Tools/Tracking.../Update Tasks is one place you can enter Actuals, or you can try one of the Usage views - right click on the right and select to show Actual Work.

FAQs, companion products and other useful Project information can be seen at this web address: http://project.mvps.org/faqs.htm

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :)
