Resource calendar adjusting

T

Tim G

I am trying to find out how to change a specific
resources calendar and have it update to the project
server resource pool and impact all the projects utilizing
that resource. It seems to have updated but then resource
availablity doesnt seem to be correct. Any ideas?
Using 2002 and server.
Thanks
Tim

Open Microsoft Project and log into Project Server using an account that has
Administrator priviledges, or at least has priviledges to be able to open
the Enterprise Resource Pool in Read-Write mode. Open the Enterprise
Resource Pool (Tools - Enterprise Options - Open Enterprise Resource Pool).
In the Open Enterprise Resources dialog box, select the resources whose
calendars you want to change, and then click the Open/Add button. To edit
any resources calendar, double-click the resource's name, then select the
Working Time tab and edit their calendar. When you are finished with
editing each resource's calendar, save and close the Enterprise Resource
Pool.

The next time that any project manager opens an enterprise project (one that
is stored in the Project Server database and uses resources from the
Enterprise Resource Pool), the schedule of their project will be immediately
updated to take into account the changes to the calendars of any resources
assigned in their project. Any tasks whose schedule has changed will
display an indicator which shows little yellow envelope with an exclamation
point in the Indicators column to the left of the task name. Hope this
helps.

Updating the calendar won't update availability because availability is
expressed as a percentage of whatever hours the resource's calendar shows
that they work. If my availability is 100% and I work an 8 hour day and
then my 8 hours is changed to 4, the 100% refers to 8 hours in the first
case and 4 hours in the second. Or have I misunderstood your question?
