Resource cost

If I enter the cost for the resources on the Enterprise
Resource Pool. Can I restrict permission for the PM &
SPM's to view the cost details & have only executives
access it? I am aware that views can be controlled but my
concern is while PM's choose the enterprise resource to be
added to the Project plan they will be able to view the
cost table details while working on the project plan.
Please explain.

David

Sajvi --

The Standard and Overtime Rates for resources in your Enterprise Resource
Pool cannot be hidden from your project managers. In fact, even if you do
not display those columns in the standard Resource Sheet view for each
project, the PM's can easily insert those columns in their project. Hope
this helps.

Please could you suggest any other option if organisation
would want only executives to view the rates of resources
& projects & eliminate this access from PM's. If this is
not possible then costing cannot be maintained on the
Project Server in such cases? Please explain.
Regards,
David.

David:

The way this is typically done is to use representative costs. Most
companies use loaded labor rates or blended rates. You have to ask yourself,
what is cost? Is it salary only. Is it salary plus benefits? Is it salary,
plus benefits, plus care and feeding? Provided that you use the system to
accurately track effort on tasks, your finance folks cans use that
information to determine whatever they deem to be "cost."
