Resource Cost

Hi,
In EPM 2007, is there a way to hide the resource costing information. A
client was asking if they can define the resource costing in the resource
pool but want only finance perople to be able to view that information. This
information should not be available to the project manager or any
unauthorized person. My comments was that the PM should be in control of all
that but they see it differently. Any Ideas?

Haitham --

There is no way to hide resource Cost Rates in the Project Professional 2007
application. When a project manager adds a resource to a project team,
he/she can see the cost rates in the Standard Rate, Overtime Rate, and
Cost/Use Rate fields and you cannot hide them. Therefore, you need to tell
your client that using actual salaries in Project Server 2007 is unwise, and
can be a potential HR issue or a potential morale issue among employees. A
better approach is to use "blended rates" that are average rates across
teams, departments, business units, or even across the entire company. Hope
this helps.

Thanx Dale. This is what I had in mind but I had to check if there is any way
that I am not aware of that could hide the cost element in Professional.

Thanx.
