resource leveling and project server

We are using Project Server 2003 SP1 and Office Project 2003, and all of the
enterprise resources are brought in automatically from the conmpany's Active
Directory. Most things are working perfectly, but for some reason resource
leveling is not working at all. When I am working on a project plan in
Office Project, and I select Tools->Level Resources absolutely nothing
happens. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

From the sounds of things, when the resources are getting created the "Can
Level" property is getting set to False. Checkout your enterprise resources
using Project Professional. Once they are opened, in the sheet add the "Can
Level" field. Set the value to Yes for the resources you want to be able to
level and then save and close the enterprise resources.

Here's what I got for a resolution when I was facing the same issue:

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

====================

Leveling does not work after projects are migrated to Project Server 2003.

RESOLUTION

===========

1: Set “Can Level†for resource to Yes in Project Professional.

1. Use Administrator to logon to the Project Server via Project
Professional.

2. Checkout all the Enterprise Resources created via AD.

- To do so, click "Tools" à "Enterprise Options" à "Open Enterprise
Resource Pool".

3. Insert "Can Level" field, and set this value for all the resources to
"Yes".

- To do so, Click “Insertâ€Ã  “Column†à “Can Levelâ€

4. Close Enterprise Resource Pool.

2: Or Modify RES_CAN_LEVEL field to 1 in the MSP_RESOURCES table on Project
Server database.

3: The issue’s fixed in Project Server SP1.
