I am experiencing some unexpected results when I try to
use Resource Leveling with Project Server. Can you tell
me whether this is a known issue. Here is the scenario:
I have an engineer assigned to a project 50 percent of
his time. The project schedule is simply a one line task
with him being 50 percent allocated for the next twelve
months. This works great. The resource availability view
shows the engineer has four hours per day available for
the next twelve months. Now,I create other project
schedule that has many tasks. Most of the tasks do not
exceed 20 hours of effort. I assign the same engineer at
50 percent and then select the Level now button. The
Leveling did not work as I expected. It basically acted
as if the resource was not available for the next twelve
months or until the previous project is completed, even
though the resource is available 50 percent of the time.
Please remember that I specified at each task that the
resource unit is 50 percent for every task in both
project schedules.
Are there known problems with Leveling within Project
Server? If so, is there a workaround.
