Resource Levelling and Project 2007

Has MS improved resource levelling in 07? I'm using PS03 and Project Pro 03,
and have found very inconsistent and inexplicable results. For example, NOT
checking the "Can create splits" box and it still creates splits. Selecting
Leveling Order of "ID Only" and it doesn't. Selecting Leveling Order of
"Priority, Standard" and it ignores priorities. You know, little stuff like
that. Is there a hopeful future if I upgrade to 2007?

I cannot see any change in how Project 2007 levels resource overallocations.
Out of curiosity, do you level in a task view, such as the Gantt Chart view,
or in a resource view such as the Resource Usage? If you are not leveling
in a resource view, you SHOULD be, and you should level only one
overallocated resource at a time. This allows you to take total control
over the leveling process for each resource. Just a few thoughts. Hope
this helps.

Yes to leveling in resource view, no to only one at a time... I do a multiple
select on only those resources I need to level (usually ones who are assigned
only to that project, to avoid inter-project messiness). I'll give the
one-at-a-time approach a try, and let you know. Thanks for the ideas...

To level only one resource at a time, be sure to deselect the "Clear
leveling results before leveling" option in the top section of the dialog.
Hope this helps.
