Resource List too long, more than 256 characters

I saw one previous post concerning how to assign a large list of
resources to a single task. The only suggestion to fix the "Resource
List Too Long" error was to create a new plan for sub-teams to break
the resource list down into smaller units.

The way that I read the error message is that the problem is related to
limitations of an email field (TO:). I would even prefer to disable
the email option if that would correct this problem. Are there any
other ways to get around this issue besides creating a new plan?

That I know of this error is only in play if you edit the Resource
field in a Task view manually. It does not happen when you assign via
the Task Information dialog or the Assign Resources Dialog. (But it has
been a while since I worked with this situation.)
