Resource Pool ERROR. Repeated Resources.

E

EL MOVE

Hi,

We have a Master project for resource pool. Connected to this resource pool
we have several projects (20) that takes resources from this master pool. We
are having an strange behaviour. If I open the Master project and go to de
resource View, I have all the resources repeated several times with different
data for the same resource. We have added de Column "Project" and we see that
for the same project it can be more than one connection (one with a full UNC
path, an other with just the name of the project without path...). This is a
big problem because we are not able to have the right data for a single
resource (every iteration of the same resource is different...)

Any ideas of how to solve it?

Thanks in advance for your help

Best Regards

Hi,

My guess is that you only have a master file, not a resource pool!
Did you, in each project, go to Resource sharing, share resorucs, use
resources from (the resource pool)?

Rubén,

From Project's perspective the file names are different and when the
user linked the files, sometimes they pointed to the LAN file server
space on their computer which was mapped to a drive letter, and other
times they used the UNC path. How can Project know they are the same
when on the computer they are different (even though pointing to the
exact file name).

Coincidently I replied to a posting just a few minutes ago where I
explained how I handled this for individual and team situations. See my
posting on today at 08:58 in reply to "User a resource pool with a
Master Project".

Hi ,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

You need to share each project with the pool and then insert the projects
and let Project populate the pool. You might like to have a look at my free

particularly #17 et seq, at this site: http://tinyurl.com/2xbhc or this:

(Perhaps you'd care to rate the article before leaving the site, :)
Thanks.)

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :)
