Resource Substitution problem. Mgmt demo next week!

As in other post of today, I cannot properly substitute resources although
all (generic and specific) have skill codes properly assigned to them.

I tried to narrow the scope of the problem:

I do substitution via choosing a level in the resource breakdown structure.
(Not checked off for matching resources as I have done this on the Skill
code I defined.)

The resources are limited to those in this part of the RBS, but they are
randomly assigned to all tasks in the plan.

HELP! I'm trying to put together a mgmt demo, and they're going to want to
see this working!

Stephen,

You have coded the resources with a skills attribute. You
also need to have the assignments coded (not the tasks)
with the required skill. The Resource Substitution Wizard
looks at the assignments that are only visible in the
Resource Usage view; it does not look at the tasks.

You insert the field "Skills" (or whatever you called it)
in the Resource Usage view.

If you assign generic resource to the tasks first, this
field will be filled in automatically.

Eric,

That did the trick!

I erased all existing assignments. Saved the project. Re-assigned to
generic resources. and was then successful in getting proper substitutions
made.
