Resource/Task/Time Reports

N

Nir Shiffer

We are interested in producing an Excel report from Project 2007 containing
information on task durations and work remaining, mapped by resource
(primary) and time (secondary) on two axis. This is a rough example:

Week 1 Week2

Resource 1 Activity1 20 30
Activity2 12 15
Resource 2 Activity 3 10 6

So far we have difficulty producing these reports with both OLAP and Visual
Reports from project professional.

Any advice?

Thanks so much for sharing this link. Using the new Visual Reports feature
is a solution that I would have never thought of! :)

I am creating this report from within PWA. Does have all the fancy
formatting that I could get via writting a report. But I do get the data I
need.

Steps.

1. Go to Resource Center
2. Highlight (check) the resources you want to report on (I usually do
department at a time)
3. Click View Availibility
4. From this screen, click view options
5. set your date range
6. Set units you want to display (I usually do weeks)

Results is exectly whay you show in your post. I do have issues nif I try
to export to excel to add header/footer (seems it drops resource name). But
otherwise you should get what your asking for.

Thanks for trying but this view doesn't inculde tasks or assignments. It only
includes projects.

Yair O -

this view does include tasks and assignments I believe. Simply click
on the expand (i.e., "+") button to the right of each Project name and
you will see the resource and then expand the resource to see the task
name.

I checked again its not an option in MSP 2007.
Anyhow I need only the lower task level and not the whole hirarchy of
summary tasks above it.
