Resource Units - Resource Over Allocation

R

Rami

Hi

I have a resource with 200% units in the resource pool. I understand that
this means that the resource will not be considered over allocated if he was
assigned to a task with more than 100% unit but less than 200%. is that true?

When I assign the previous resource to a task and give the assignment 150%
unit, it shows the resource in a red as he is over allocated. But why if he
has 200% unit defined in the resource pool?

Hi Rami,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

True, but Project looks at all tasks assigned and if there are others
assigned to the same resource at the same time, overallocation will occur.
Try levelling.

Hi Mike

Thanks for your swift response.

Actually he is assigned only to one task. But I have made the units in the
task property to 150%. The resource has 200% unit in the resource pool.

So what is the use of the units in the resource pool?

Thanks for the links. They are really helpfull.

Hi Rami,

Have a look at the Resource Usage view to see if you can identify what's
going on. I suppose you haven't assigned the resource to a Summary task?
