Resource usage across projects

What is the best way to see the latest assignment information in a usage
view for resources that are shared on projects which I do not have open?
In Proj 2000, if the pool was open it was easy to see this.
In Proj 2002, I can see all the assignments I want to see, but the workloads
shown are not current for projects I do not have open.
The projects themselves, if opened reflect the correct workloads and they
show up correctly in PWA; but they are not correct for rows in the usage
view that do not belong to the project(s) you have open.

I've seen posts with subject lines that look like they would answer this
question, but they are no longer available.

So far, what I've observed is this:
Actual work is what does not show up correctly for projects I don't have
open.
To get Work synchronized, the other PMs have to close their projects (check
them in) and I have to close project down and reopen.
Is there a better way to 1) show current actual work values across projects
and 2) update Work values without having to check everything in and reopen
project? I realize this canbe done in PWA, but I cannot level in PWA, so
I'd like to figure out a way to be able to trust the usage view as current.

I lied ;-)
Neither Actual Work NOR Work is represented correctly. It sure seems like
last week everything worked! The only thing I've done new this week is add
Weeks to the analyzer cube but I doubt that messed anything up.
