Resource Usage View

We have resources where the total available hours is 20 and the work hours
is 15 yet the days total in the resource usage view is marked in red. The
overallocation shows nothing (not overallocated) as we would expect. What
is the meaning of the red for the totals?

TIA,

Project calculates resource utilization by the minute and
by the time. So if the task actually started later in
the day than 8:00 and say they were assigned 4 hours of
work and they are schedule from 8-12, then your resource
will be overallocated in that day.

Thanks for the response Kevin. Still a bit confused. Would this make it
consider the next day overallocated as well? That is, we have something
like this (20 hour/day resource):

Work: 24h 24h 17.4h 24h 11.57h
Over: 4h 4h 4h
Rem Avl: 0h 0h 2.6h 0h 8.43h

Both of the days with remaining availability (of 2.6 and 8.43 respectively)
show up as red in the resource usage screen. Are you saying that if a task
with, say, six hours of work were to start near the end of the second day,
that the thrid day would get most of those 6 hours even through they do not
show up as work for that day?

Even harder to understand, what cause the first two days of this week (M-F)
to show as overallocated. The prior week ended with 12h available on both T
and F.

Work: 15.03h 8.6h 20.25h 24h
24h
Over: 0.25h 4h
4h
Rem Avl: 4.97h 11.4h 0h 0h
0h

Can you help me understand?

Thanks,
Scott McClure
