Resources are being set to inactive

I'm running Project Server 2007 with the latest service pack 2.

Issue: Each time the Resource Pool synchronized resources with Active
Directory, some of the resources get set to inactive. When I run the groups
synchronization manually they are reactivated. If I leave it on
automatically scheduled it won't reactivate.

The questions:

Why are only certain resources being set to inactive, that shouldn’t be,
during the resource pool synchronization with active directory?

Why do the resources get re-activated when synchronizing groups with active
directory manually but not automatically?

How do I fix all this?

Thanks

The most logical solution would be that the resources are not in the AD Group
that is sync'd to the Resource Pool. That would deactivate them during that
sync. They may however be in a different AD Group which when sync'd to the
security groups reactivates them.

The other hypothesis would be to check the timing of the two sync activities.
See if the automatic timers are set to sync the Groups first and then the
Resource Pool. That would activate and then deactivate them. When you do
it manually, you're flipping the sequence, which deactivates and then reactivates
them.

Just a theory, but that would explain the issue.
