Your Project Server administrator must diable the Managed Time Periods
option to allow the PM to remove the resource and the actual from the
summary task. After the PM completes this action, saves, and publishes the
project, the Project Server administrator can re-enable the Managed Time
Periods option. Hope this helps.

We are on PS 2003 SP2a and using managed time periods. There is a project
that has resources assigned to the summary task and time sheet data has been
updated to it. I am unable to remove the user from this assignment. How can
I do this?

Thanks Dale. I tried turning off managed time periods but still got the
message that I can not delete users that have actual work protected. I tried
deleting using the Assign Resources tool.

Any additional ideas would be great.

I think I found a work around.

I turned off managed time periods and saved the project file to my desktop.
I then deleted out the Admin project. Next I opened the project on my
desktop offline and deleted out the assignments in the summary task and saved
to my desktop. I then imported back into server and did a repbulish all
assignments and checked the box to overwrite actuals entered by resources.

Do you see any flaws in this or possibe issues? It seems to have worked
fine on my development box.

Did you delete the project from the Project Server database before importing
it back into the system? Does this project have associated Risks, Issues,
or Documents? Let us know.

I did delete the project out of Project Server before importing. The project
does not have associated risks, issues and documents.
