Resources Sheet view for rolled up projects

C

Chris Toliver

I often have multiple projects going on at once. Say 5-10 at happening at any
one time.

Each of these projects has an individual project plan that all share the
exact same Resource Sheet.

When I try and add all of these multiple project plans to one rolled up
version the resources from each plan copy themselves to the Resource Sheet of
the rollup.

Since each individual project plan uses the exact same resources, ordered in
exactly the same way, can't the Resource sheet just stay the same?

Is there anyway to make this happen without having MS Project Server?

I'm a little puzzled about what you say as to what the problem is. Your
nomenclature is not exactly as Project understands it.

Let's go back a step.

You individual MPP files for each project?
You have one resource MPP file which has only resources.
You "share" this resource MPP file by linking it to each of the
individual MPP files?
You link the individual MPP subproject files into a Master file? Or do
you insert (not link) these subproject files into the Master.

After you do all this, what's the problem?

Hi Chris,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

You need to share (via Tools/Resource Sharing/Share Resources...) each
project with a resource pool. Create a project called "pool" and share each
project with that. Project will then populate the pool file as you Import
each project in to the master without any duplication.
