The best you can do is to temporarily specify the Max. Units value for team
members, knowing that the next time you open the project, the system will
restore the Max. Units values specified in the Enterprise Resource Pool.
The process we recommend is this:
1. Open the project in question
2. Click View - Resource Sheet
3. Set the temporary Max. Units value for each resource
4. Click View - Gantt Chart
5. Assign resources to all tasks in the project
In step #5 above, when you assign a resource to a task without specifying a
Units value, the software will assign the resource using the temporary Max.
Units value for that resource. In your situation, I'm not sure the above
steps will help at all, given the fact that you don't want to specify Units
on tasks. By the way, there is no way to assign a resource WITHOUT a Units
value, so perhaps you need to rethink your methodology for using this tool.
