DaveFusion,
By "imported the resources," do you mean that you used the wizard to convert
the local Project Pro resources to enterprise resources from the server
enterprise pool? Assuming you are using enterprise resources, then ...
Creating a resource creates a user account. The Project Server
Administrator will need to:
- Sign on to Project Web Access (PWA)
- Select Admin from the menu bar
- Select Manager Users & Groups from the blue Action bar on the left
- Select each resource in turn and set their options (email address, etc.)
and authorities. Add them to the Team Members group, add them to My Tasks
category and apply the default Team Members template for permissions.
- Save
- Repeat for remaining resources
The resource should now be able to start PWA and view their tasks.
To enable access to Outlook, they will run the option from the PWA home page
(the icon on the right side) to load the Outlook toolbar. They will then
start Outlook, accept a couple of certificates, etc.
Our experience with the Outlook interface was very disappointing. It's
really bad. We discontinued using it very quickly and trained everyone on
PWA. I would suggest that you pilot this with a couple of easy going
individuals before you try rolling it out to a broader user base.
