Ressource Substitution Wizard disregards administrative tasks

Egon

Hi NG,
following situation:
1 administrative project, ressource "A" has booked vacation for 4 weeks. I
run the Ressource substitution wizard for a new project, created by template
with Generic ressources (GR). Wizard replaces GR by ressource "A" without
considering booked "work" ( = vacation). What's wrong ?
txs for hints!

Egon:

It doesn't do both substitution and leveling. In fact, you should level your
plans before using the substitution wizard, however I don't think it will
ever consider an assignment in an administrative plan.

Hi Gary,
there is nothing to "level", because I want to replace a generic resource
without capacity. Documention ((Portfolio Managers Guide, page 115) says: "
....resources from the Enterprise Resource Pool who are available and have
the skills ...
Present workaraound is to build a project "like" an administrative one -
this works!

Your original problem with the default administrative projects feature, and
your workaround, are even more evidence at how frustrating the
administrative project feature is. Gary and I have been recommending using
regular projects to mimic the functionality of the administrative projects,
but without the frustration! :)
