restore previous version of file--HELP

sync just overwrote a file I need the previous version of; can I recover the
older version? no other work has gone on with the computer on which the
original file was located.

If you are using Vista, then in Windows Explorer>right click on file
name>Properties>Previous Versions

The computer on which the original file is located is an older XP--does that
mean SOL?

Do you have a backup made? Did you e-mail it to some one(look in sent
folder)?
