Restore Security Defaults

I'm at a client site working with Project Server 2003. Over the years, the
security has been changed so many times to meet real and imagined needs that
it is now hopelessly out of whack. Is there by any chance a SQL script that
will set security back to the factory defaults? If not, is there a definitive
work which details the settings (other than the administrator's guide, which
seems to leave some settings out)?

Thanks Dale.

That would be the "Administering Microsoft Office Project Server 2003" I
assume?

Dale,

Is there a way in MSPS2K7 to reset the default secrurity for groups using a
script or admin setting VS plucking them from documentation?

The answer is yes, but there is a big "if" before you can reset them
automatically. If you log into PWA with administrator permissions, click
Server Settings - Administrative Backup. On this page, see the option
called Category and Group Settings? If you selected this option after you
first installed Project Server 2007, while the default settings were still
in place for all Groups and Categories, and then clicked the Backup button,
you could restore these settings later by clicking the Administrative
Restore link on the Server Settings page.

If you did not back up your settngs, then plucking them from documentation
is the only way. Our Project Server 2007 book for administrators is due out
in October. In that book, you will find all the default Group and Category
security settings documented in full. And it also talks all about how to
use the Administrative Backup and Administrative Restore features. Hope
this helps.
