Restoring ".dbx" files into Outlook

J

Johnny

I recently had my OS re-installed on my laptop (windows
2000 prof.). I also re-installed Outlook 2003. before
this was done, my files were backed up onto cd, including
my outlook mailbox. my mailbox was backed up as a ".dbx"
file, ie. inbox.dbx. Now i can't "import" or "open" my
old inbox into my new Outlook. All of the directions i
pull up refer to .pst files only. I'v ebeen told
to "save" them ont o my HDD firwt and remove the read only
attribute then open them with outlook. I've tried this
and there is no option to "save" these files when i access
my cd rom? also, How do I configure my dbx files within
Outlook Express?

Outlook and Outlook Express are 2 different programs. Which one are you
trying to use?

Note: .dbx files belong to OE and cannot be opened directly by Outlook.

Open Outlook Express and on the Tools menu, select Options and then
Maintenance. You can re-point OE to look at your saved .dbx files. Then
you can export them from OE to Outlook.
