Restoring Project Server 2007 Dbs on another server fails

Hi,

I have made backups of the four PS databases:

- ProjectServer_Archive
- ProjectServer_Draft
- ProjectServer_Published
- ProjectServer_Reporting

I had already running a different server with one existing PWA site without
any issues.

Then I tried to create the new site with the foreign databases. The screen
showed "Waiting for resource". I waited for a couple of minutes and then
refreshed the status and then the entry for the new site disappeared.

The event log does not show any error.I could not find any error in the logs
available atMicrosoft Shared\web server extensions\12\LOGS

Does anybody have an idea how to troubleshoot this?

I would create the new instance and then restore the old DBs into the newly
created ones. Also have a look at Brian Smiths blog on using the WSS backup
tools for backing up and restoring databases.

This problem will occur if any of the services have stopped.
Check they are all running. Delete the aborted instance and repeat
your process.

thanks for all the suggestions. All my services were running how ever the
restore in a new instance hang with "waiting for resource".

The faulty new instance disappeared from the PWA Sites page. No error in ULS
or Event log.

Any thoughts?

Can you create a new instance with new databases?
If so try restoring your old databases over the top. You will need to
stop all services before the restore.
