? would like to restrict documents in word, excel and powerpoint to Read only
and not allow the printing of these documents. Need some guidance on how to
do this or is this not possible.

For the most part, if there is a printer available, the document can be
printed. The 2003 versions of the applications provide more
restrictions, but determined users may still be successful in copying or
printing.

I'm using Office 2000. The printers are network printers so I can't remove
printers.

If you are using Office 2000 then your best bet is to use a PDF
format. It's not a 100% guarantee but nothing is really guaranteed.
:)

Granted you could try to utilize macros however those are easily
by-passed by simply setting the Macro Security level to High or
Medium.

Office 2003 introduced RTM which will allow you to restrict user
privileges such read only which will prevent printing and copying
content.
