Restrict resources to their 100% utilization

Hi All,

Can we restrict resources to their 100% utilization? What I mean by
this is that we are trying to define a typical work week of 40 hrs. If
a resource is already being utilized for 40 hours, we don't want any
project manager to assign more work on top of it or at least be warned
before they attempt to over allocate in addition to their already fully
utilized 40 hrs?

Your help is sincerely appreciated.

There is no way to set up Project Server to prevent project managers from
overallocating a resource. There are a number of tools built into Project
Server to allow PM's to assess a resource's availability to work on a
project, as referenced in the following FAQ:

http://www.projectserverexperts.com/Shared Documents/AvoidOverallocation.htm

Therefore, from the above-referenced FAQ, this is a training and performance
issue with your PM's. You must train them how to determine resource
availability before making assignments, and then hold them accountable for
this performance. Hope this helps.

Hi Dale,

Thank you so much for your prompt response. I had already visited this
link in the morning and was really hoping for something better than
this ;-) Guess will have to settle for this one. Will make it as a
training issue.

O BTW I am reading two of your Project server books right now and
hopefully will get all the answers from their itself before having to
post anything here :)

Thanks again!

Sincerely,
-Rajiv
