Restricting Author Access

A Quick question: Here's the Scenerio.

I have a Development Server, A Test Server, A Publish Server and a
Production Server. What I would like to do is force the Web Designers to use
the Dev server to create their pages, send them to the Publish server using a
Special Hostheader, the Publish server will transfer them to the Test server
for testing.

Once testing is complete, have the Web Designer publish from the Dev server
to the Publish Server using a different host header, the publish server will
then copy this new data over to Production server and the site will be live.

All the technical issues have been worked out, but my problem is this. How
can I keep the Web Designers from making there changes directly on the
Publish server? From what I've read I have to grant Adv Author access to the
Websites on the Publish server or the Web Designer won't be able to publish
to them from the Dev server. Since they have Adv Author access on the
Publish server there is nothing I can do to keep them from opening there
sites directly on the Publish server.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated!

You would have to give them access only to the server you want them to be able open/publish to,
otherwise as long as they have full access they will be able to publish to the server.

FYI: FP doesn't always work well with host headers.
