retail version of xp wont install on another computer

melbrady

I have a retail bought copy of microsoft xp installed on my pc, I have since
bought a laptop as well and installed office on it but it is asking me to
register and when I try to register it, message tells me it is already
registered. I was under the impression I should be able to install a retail
version multiple times, is this not correct?

You are allowed to install it on one desktop and one laptop (as long as they
are not used simultaneously). You do have to activate the product - you need
to choose the phone option and explain it to Microsoft.

I'm glad I could help you as far as I did. Sorry I can't do more. Guess this
means you'll have to forego working this weekend. (Be glad you're not
calling Microsoft in the US. We have a three day weekend and MS will be
closed on Monday.)

If it is the Students and Teachers Edition, it only allows for one
installation, either desktop or laptop.

Registration is optional; Activation is compulsory!

Reading his post again, he never does say Office XP, he only says Microsoft
XP.

Hey Melbrandy - do you mean Windows XP or Office XP or what?

I am wondering. You say (I guess) that it is your second computer. As it is
a retail (?) version of Office XP, you may install it on two computers, so
activation over the net shall pass. However, in the event of it's a S&T
version this one does not apply.

Not a bank holiday, it is Memorial Day, look it up.

Office is the product the OP is requesting information on. Re-read the
second sentence.

Nothing egocentric about it - it is about the folks here who died saving
your ***** butts. Oh, and let's not forget the French, Polish, Italian,
Russian, etc. hind ends. Egocentricity has nothing to do with it. Show a
little respect.

| No. If you lot in the US can be egocentric, then we Brits can too...
