Retrieve old e-mail in Outlook 2003

I upgraded to Outlook 2003 from Outlook 2000 but how do I retrieve my old
e-mail?
I tried to locate a .pst file but could not find it. Also, I didn't back
anything up before upgrading (didn't realize that my old e-mail would not
automatically be converted over to the new version).

There's no conversion to a new format of PST file (which OL2003 can use -
supports much larger PST files) but your data should have remained intact.
Before *any* upgrade, and also on a regular basis, you should be backing up
your PST file and all your needed data anyway.

Search for *.pst on your hard drive(s) and make sure you're including
hidden/system folders in your search.

If you perfromed the upgrade properly, your old items should have been
available in the new version automatically.
I tried to locate a .pst file but could not find it.

If you're using WIndows 2000 or XP, your PST is usually in the hidden folder
%UserProfile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook. Enable
viewing hidden files and folders to find it.
Also, I didn't

By you said that you don't have your old mail, so obviously it wasn't
converted.
