retrieving email from a CD

One of my laptops crashed and I had a technician burn the email I had saved
from Outlook on that computer before it was sent to the lab to be fixed. That
computer had Vista. Now I try to open the file on my other laptop (XP) and it
won't open as it is a .pst file. How do I get into those emails?

the file is now read-only because you copied it from the CD, right click on
it, properties, un-check read only

Copy the file from the CD to your "Documents" folder. Right-click on the
file, choose properties and uncheck "Read-Only".
Then in outlook do File-Open-Outlook data file and navigate to where you put
it.

When I go to Outlook Express and click on file, it won't give me "open" as a
choice. Should I do something else instead?

OK, you changed horses in the middle of the stream, Outlook Express is a
totally different animal and will not open pst files, you need to Outlook to
open a pst file.

Ah. the nub of the problem. Outlook EXPRESS is a totally different
application to Outlook.

Read here for info on restoring Outlook EXPRESS data:

Please note for future:
This newsgroup is for support of Outlook
97/98/2000/2002/2003/2007 from the Office suite of products. Outlook
Express is actually a separate program despite the similar name.

For help with your OE questions, try an OE newsgroup such as
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress (for OE 6), or
an OE help website such as http://insideOE.tomsterdam.com. If you're
accessing the Microsoft newsgroups through the MS Product Support
Services "Community Newsgroups" web interface, click
http://www.microsoft.com/communitie...px?dg=microsoft.public.outlookexpress.general
Good luck!

Thank you. I will try to get either the outlook pgm running or the outlook
express to open the email.
