retrieving email messages

I downloaded my email messages into outlook 2007 from an sbc email account.
My computer crashed and i no longer have access to it. I did not back up my
messages in outlook. (didn't know that I should). Is there a way to retrieve
my messages through outlook?

Outlook stores its data in a pst-file. If you did not backup this file and
no longer have access to your computer, you cannot retrieve them anymore.

You might be in luck if your mail account was an IMAP account or configured
your POP3 account to leave a copy on the server, but if that was the case, I
don't think you would be asking this question. You could try contacting your
provider and ask if they have a backup of the last incoming emails but this
usually is not the case.

my mail account was pop3 and as luck would have it, it was not configured to
leave a copy on the server. so i guess that's it. hopefully someone else can
learn a lesson from my HUGE MISHAP. Thanks for your help.

Depending on the crash, you may be able to mount that PC's hard drive in
another PC and access the data there. You can then use Robert's instructions
to recover the data.
