Retrieving Excel Spreadsheet Column Headers - For Import Spec

Help, Is this feasible, I want to retrieve excel column
headers from various spreadsheets and store them
in a temporary table, then map the data in an access
table to the speadsheet and finally save the data map
as an import specification.
We do a lot of data importing from various Excel
spreadsheets that have common headers but frequently have
different names, I want to try to streamline the process.

Any help or pointers on how to go about this would be
very helpful
